Cantor -
Description:
The cantor welcomes the congregation and reads announcements prior to the start of Mass. During Mass, the canter leads the congregation in sung prayer, including all responses and acclamations when a choir is not present. The cantor may also be called upon to introduce and teach new music and to encourage the assembly.
Requirements:
- Arrive at least 20 minutes prior to the scheduled mass time.
- Ability to lead a song.
- Availability to cantor at least twice each month.
- Willingness to attend learning workshops and rehearsals.
Choir -
Description:
The choir provides beauty and solemnity to the liturgy while assisting and encouraging congregational singing.
Requirements:
- Willingness to learn new music and sing in parts.
- Willingness to attend weekly rehearsals.
- Availability to provide music at least twice each month for regular Masses and at special liturgies.
Contemporary Ensemble -
Description:
The contemporary ensemble assists and encourages congregational singing of contemporary music.
Requirements:
- Ability to sing or play an instrument.
- Willingness to attend rehearsals.
- Availability to sing or play at least once each month.
